Making Lighting Progress
Boring light fixtures are, well, boring. Really they should be more as they provide light and warmth and sight to the room they are located in. Yet so often we choose the plainest simplest, dullest fixtures we can considering only the price. However, more exciting possibilities exist in the same price range if only you take the time to look and help progress lighting in your home!
“A man’s home is his castle,” yet so often we instead decorate it more like an urban, cut and paste, white milk, repeating tessellation plastic jail cell. Little accents that make a place beautiful are forgotten. Accents like crowing, color, drapes, rug and more. Lighting should make this cut however. Castles don’t need to be always drafty and dark.
Consider, for instance, flower themed light fixtures, every one different than the next. Generally the shape is the same and no different or unusual material is required. Or look for fluted, flowing designs that use the light being cast from the bulbs inside them. The options go on. For Victorian designs, consider square cast light fixtures. For western, big bulbous shapes like old lantern glass. And color can be adjusted too. Why not set a slightly warmer glow in that living room, or a barely green cast to the sitting room with your plants?
Making lighting progress involves taking unusual ideas for your home and simply following them, making your home stand out and giving it that little thing known as atmosphere. Light allows us to see and therefore lighting must be a key component to the process. It is your house and your dream. Just go for it
